CAVAVIN's responsible approach

CAVAVIN's responsible approach

As time goes by, more and more winegrowers are producing biodynamic and organic wines which benefit from very precise labels and regulations.

Organic wine :

The first organic wines date back to 1972. It is important to remember that it is not the wine that is organic but the viticulture on which it depends.

It is the cultivation that is organic, not the vinification.

Biodynamic wine:

The agricultural estate is like a self-sufficient ecological entity where the winegrowers modify their viticultural practices by respecting the position of the elements (Earth, moon, air, planets...).

A European regulation frames all the practices that allow to obtain this famous BIO label. The use of chemical fertilisers, herbicides, pesticides and insecticides is forbidden. Organic vinification requires a reduction in sulphur dioxide.

Preparations called "préparâts" are used to treat, fertilise or repel pests. Demeter and Biodyvin are the best-known biodynamic certifications.

Natural wine:

It is defined as "living wine". It is the result of organic or biodynamic farming, with the difference that it is vinified without added sulphites.

Sustainable Development Winegrowers:

A label with 37 commitments to sustainable development. Supported by an association of pioneering winegrowers, it benefits from the support of local institutions.

Vegan :

Replace animal-based glues with a vegetable glue made from plant proteins such as peas, wheat or potatoes.

High Environmental Value (HVE):

Framed by precise specifications, they are controlled by independent organisations approved by the State in order to be environmentally friendly.

Terra Vitis :

A global approach, taking into account the operation of the farm, its environment, its people and its economic viability.
