The Château de France has belonged to the THOMASSIN family since 1971. This year 2021 will be the occasion to celebrate the 50th anniversary!
Located 15 km south of Bordeaux in the commune of LEOGNAN, it is a peri-urban vineyard of 40 hectares of vines certified HAUTE VALEUR ENVIRONNEMENTALE level 3. The historic building of the estate dates from the 17th century.
The environment, viticultural and wine-making practices are among the priorities of the Château de France winegrowers: respect for the soil, their employees and of course their consumers.
The vineyard is in good production condition with modern technical facilities, which allows the production of great wines.
A very great terroir:
Château de France produces dry white and red wines with grape varieties adapted to the soils and climate with an oceanic influence: Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot for the reds. Sauvignon and Semillon for the whites. The Graves that make up the soil come from gravel and pebbles rolled by the waters.
All the grapes are harvested by hand. They begin in mid-September with the whites and end in late October with the reds.
